Calculating your Ripple transaction fee is straightforward. The standard fee on the XRP Ledger is 0.00001 XRP (10 drops) per transaction, regardless of the amount you send. Whether you are transferring $10 or $10 million, the network fee remains the same flat cost.
To find the current USD cost, simply multiply 0.00001 XRP by the current XRP market price. For example, if XRP is trading at $2.00, your transaction fee would be $0.00002 — effectively free at any transfer size.
Does the Fee Change?
Under normal network conditions the fee is fixed at 10 drops. The fee can scale upward automatically if the XRPL experiences a surge in activity. This built-in congestion pricing mechanism is exponential: once demand exceeds network capacity, fees rise sharply to prioritize legitimate transactions and discourage spam.
However, even during peak congestion the XRP fee remains orders of magnitude lower than competing networks. Real-time fee data is available through the XRPL's server_info and fee API endpoints.
Exchange Withdrawal Fees vs Network Fees
It is important to distinguish between the XRPL network fee (0.00001 XRP) and exchange withdrawal fees charged by platforms like Coinbase, Binance, or Kraken. Exchanges often add their own flat withdrawal fee of 0.1–1 XRP on top of the network fee. Always check your exchange's fee schedule before initiating a transfer.
Multi-Signature Transaction Fees
Transactions that require multiple signatures pay a higher fee than standard single-signature transactions. The fee scales proportionally with the number of signers, ensuring the network can sustain complex transactions without being abused.
